Holy Cheeses That’s Good

My Husband is to cheese what pigs are to truffles, wait that sounds wrong… what bird dogs are to… no, this is getting worse… what trained Cormorants are to Fishermen in China… nope, no better. Bad metaphors aside, when it comes to cheese, my Husband is genius. If there is a cheese to top all cheeses he will root it out, it’s in his Italian blood to know the finest food when he sees it.

For Thanksgiving last year, Bello and I stayed home, a first. I wanted our feast to be special and planned a menu of snacktastic appetizers for a full day of decadent indulgence. Sweet & Salty Nuts, a lovely Cruditè, Chorizo Deviled Eggs and the best Cheese we could find.

When we hit the market, grocery list in hand, Bello had his mission, keep the drinks from running dry and finding the best cheese. In typical style he came back with a tremendous find. Four Fat Fowl St. Stephen. Oh my cheeses was it good.

This is the table I sat down to Thanksgiving Day. Do notice nearly half the wheel was gone before I could even get to the table!

Thanksgiving Spread
Thanksgiving Day. Proof if you’re slow you miss out on the cheese!

Since Thanksgiving, we’ve hit the road for a while. Our summer plans are Italy, Spain and France, but for now, we’re in O-HI-O with my family. On arriving, we were quickly reminded “We’re not in Manhattan anymore Toto.” After a decade in the Big Apple, we are finding many of our favorite food indulgences that we took for granted are hard sought finds in Ohio, if you can find them at all.

So, not to be deprived, this week, to thank my Husband for being the hard working, amazing man he is, I decided he deserved, no needed, no MUST have his new favorite cheese. I was delighted to find out that Four Fat Fowl would happily ship direct and just a few days later, we have our cheese booty again. Three wheels of cheesy gluttony are ours all ours!

If you can find this one, TRY IT. If you can’t, this is one of those times it’s worth the cost of shipping it direct. The folks at Four Fat Fowl are gems and will make sure you’re deepest, darkest, cheesiest dreams come true.

Here’s the description straight from the Four Fat Fowl site.

“Our first cheese is a beautiful, hand-crafted triple cream that bursts with buttery and milky overtones. A smooth, silky interior made from all natural jersey cow’s milk and fresh jersey cream creates the perfect texture, while our soft, bloomy rind adds an earthy flavor with nutty undertones. St. Stephen will leave you wanting more to share with a friend and a glass of bubbly. This classic cheese works anytime of day – spread it on your toast for breakfast, serve it as an appetizer before dinner or dress it up with some honey or berries for a fancy dessert.”

Please contact us at (518) 733-5230 or fourfatfowl@gmail.com if you would like to order some cheese.
